The idea for this program did not begin with a discussion about teenagers. It grew out of our work with adults. We watched accomplished founders wrestle with behaviors that business knowledge alone could not correct. Some struggled with communication. Others with emotional regulation, Those were not necessarily failures of intelligence or ambition. In many cases, we were looking at patterns of behavior that had been practiced long enough to become deeply established. That experience raised an important question for us: Why wait until someone is carrying the weight of an enterprise, a family, employees, wealth, or leadership responsibility before helping them examine how their character is being formed? The question eventually led us backward to adolescence. The teenage years are already years of formation. Young people are developing habits, testing boundaries, choosing relationships, encountering consequences, discovering independence, forming opinions, and beginning to imagine their futures. We saw an opportunity to give them language and tools for understanding that process while it is happening. That became the foundation for the Teen Vision & Awareness Bootcamp. ​ We watched accomplished founders wrestle with behaviors that business knowledge alone could not correct.
